Free Workshop: Emotional Intelligence

It has been predicted that 80% of our success is based on how well we utilize our “emotional intelligence.”  But what is it and how can you make it work for you?

In this complimentary workshop, popular speaker and LA Fellows instructor Jim Marteney details how to use EI as a source of energy, information, connection, and influence. Scheduled for Wednesday, May 14 (2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.), Jim will show how to use EI to create better personal and professional relationships.

Free Workshop: Age Diversification in the Workplace

Age is one common concern of jobseekers who come to LA Fellows. "Will employers consider me a viable candidate for the job at my age? Will they rule me out as a candidate because they don't think I'll fit in?" One way to allay their concerns is to be proactive in thinking about your place in an age-diverse workplace and demonstrating that you understand this component and have the flexibility to adapt.

The city of Burbank's Team Business is sponsoring a FREE workshop, open to all, to give insight on the topic of multiple generations in the workplace and how different age groups fit into the corporate culture. The speaker will be one of our very own LA Fellows instructors, Jim Marteney.

 

The workshop takes place May 8th, the day before our first orientation for Cohort 10 of the LA Fellows, which begins in July. Only recently in modern society have four generations worked together side by side. And that’s not always easy. The Wall Street Journal notes, “The frictions may be aggravated by new technology and work patterns that mix workers of different ages in ever-changing teams.”

Dissecting the multi-generational workplace, popular speaker Jim Marteney returns to Burbank to explain why understanding age diversity may be as important as understanding cultural diversity. 

 “It’s important to realize that each generation has different attitudes, behaviors, expectations, and motivational buttons,” explains Jim, “and working with those differences may be key to a more productive company.”

Scheduled for Thursday, May 8 (10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.), he’ll showcase ways to make the workplace more “age friendly.”
